Common questions

Shakti Meditation vs TM2023-02-09T04:05:22+00:00

Both Shakti Meditation and TM came out of the Vedic meditation tradition. TM is popularized and branded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the ’60s and ’70s. Founder of Shakti meditation Ananda Ma Vdovic teaches Shakti teachers in the same way that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi trained her in 1970.

However Shakti Meditation has more Mantras, we are selecting Mantras in a different way and the instructions are slightly different. Shakti is taught by a qualified instructor who has completed intense Teacher Training Course with Ananda Ma Vdovic. At Shakti we are not constrained by a big organizational structure, so are able to grow and flow organically. Some people connect the name Shakti to the divine mother or devi meditation and divine feminine. Anyway, we are fully dedicated to teach you practical meditation from the heart in its pure and original form.

Shakti Meditation vs Mindfulness or Vipassana2023-02-09T04:05:41+00:00

To be mindful is to be in the present moment or focused on the breath. Practicing mindfulness involves effort. You’re thinking about and concentrating on being in the present moment. Thinking and concentrating use effort what naturally creates thoughts.

Shakti Meditation is an effortless technique. We use a specific sound known as a ‘mantra’ to take the mind beyond thinking. In this deep state of inner peace you go to very profound levels of rest which helps to rejuvenate. This gives you an experience of mind expansion into a field of unbounded bliss consciousness.

There are many branches to the field of the knowledge of the self. The main thing is to find a method that you feel will work best for you.

How are we different from other Mantra techniques?2023-02-09T04:05:58+00:00

The majority of mantra meditation practices use one-mantra-fits-all. And this is way different than the special class of mantras we use. Some Shakti mantras have healing powers for specific parts of the body, and all mantras are for transcending which has enormous healing effects. When the mind is in a quiet state your brain functioning is optimal, your body rests very deeply and you easily transcend into the blissful silence of the Self.

There are some other mantra techniques branded as Vedic Meditation, Sahaj Samadhi, Beeja, Mantra meditation, etc., and they are all rooted in Vedas. If you’re unsure which approach is right for you, then it’s well worth joining one of our free intro talks to find out more information.
